SEO basics and it’s strategies- an overview
Today, digital marketing, i.e. marketing of your content,
business or service online has become the most effective way of improving the
customer base and improving your business growth. Traditional marketing techniques
like T.V. advertisement, banners, newspapers etc. do not have as widespread a
reach as digital internet media has. Secondly, digital marketing is more target
oriented, a television company will specifically target only those people who
need to purchase television sets.
Creating your website online is only one-fourth of the task
done in the steps of your business marketing and promotion. SEO or search
engine optimization is a part of digital marketing art that refers to the
process of improving the visibility of a search result in search engine result
pages. For eg. if a coaching institute’s newly created website is coming in the
fifth page of google search results when searched for some specific keyword,
say ‘coaching institute in Jaipur’ then trying to make this result come to the
first page is what is meant by SEO technique. Naturally, a first page result
has more visibility and is better for business growth.
SEO is of two types, ON PAGE SEO and OFF PAGE SEO. On page
SEO refers to those techniques that are implemented on the website that is
being targeted to improve its rank. For eg., doing a thorough keyword analysis
and then deciding upon keywords and writing content of the website accordingly,
adding meta tags of description, title etc. and giving images alt and title
tags. Off-page techniques are those which includes promotion of your website of
other websites in order to gain backlinks like social bookmarking, blog
writing, blog commenting etc.
SEO techniques can be organic, i.e. free as well as paid. Relevancy
is the most important aspect of SEO. We do not create a backlink of saree
website on a platform that discusses sport. Apart from this, techniques like
duplicating some website, keyword stuffing etc. are not good for improving
ranks and reduces the same.
